The Photon Go is designed for both home and portable use. Whether you're watching a movie in your backyard or taking the projector camping, the photon go can be easily powered even when you are on the go.
The photon go does come with accessories like the following: correct charger, cable, and battery pack is important for reliable performance.
Understanding Photon Go Power Requirements
For the best experience, Optoma recommends using a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charger rated at 100W or higher along with a compatible USB-C PD cable.
1. What charger should I use with the Photon Go?
The Photon Go is designed to operate with a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) power source. For optimal performance, use a 100W or higher USB-C PD charger and a compatible USB-C PD cable.
Higher-wattage chargers are capable of delivering more power, but the projector will only draw the amount of power it requires. Using a charger that does not provide sufficient power may result in:
- The projector not powering on
- The battery not charging correctly
- Reduced performance
- Unexpected shutdowns during use
Important: The charger and cable must both support the required power level. Even if your charger is rated for 100W, a lower-rated cable can limit power delivery and prevent the projector from operating correctly.
2. Can I use a portable battery pack?
Yes. The Photon Go can be powered by compatible USB-C PD battery packs, making it ideal for camping, travel, outdoor movie nights, and other portable applications.
When selecting a battery pack, look for:
- USB-C Power Delivery (PD) support
- A power output that meets the projector's requirements
- Sufficient battery capacity for your desired runtime
Battery capacity is commonly measured in milliamp-hours (mAh). In general, a battery pack with a higher mAh rating stores more energy and can power the projector for a longer period of time. However, battery capacity alone does not guarantee compatibility. The battery pack must also be capable of providing the required power output through its USB-C PD port.
3. What happens if I use the wrong charger, cable, or battery?
You may experience power or charging issues. If you do verify that your charger, battery pack, and USB-C cable support the recommended power requirements.
For safety and reliability, always use quality USB-C PD chargers, battery packs, and cables that are rated for the required power level. Damaged or incorrectly rated accessories may cause issues such as overheating and could potentially damage the charging equipment or the projector.
