Tutorial 16 - Using OMS Signage to Deliver Engaging Content

You can use signage to effectively convey visual information and enhance communication efficiency.

Function Descriptions
 Media   Upload multimedia content for easy reuse in playlists, templates and broadcasts.
  a. Media: Image, MP3, MP4, URL
  b. Playlist : A playlist is a predefined sequence of media assets that are scheduled
      to be played.
      Content plays in a linear sequence, with each item automatically transitioning 
      to the next after it completes.
 Template   a. Select the template and add the media elements to the playlists for display on 
      screens in a specific order and timing.
  b. Content, except for URLs, will be downloaded to the displays and played offline.
 Broadcast   Stream multimedia content to displays
  a. General 
  b. Emergency
  c. CAP Message

 ▶ Signage -How to Add Media 

Before using the signage playback feature:
Please upload your multimedia content to the media library. Once uploaded, you can 
organize them into various playback types.

Media 
There are two types of options "Add Media" or "Add URL"

  1. Add Media

     Video (MP4)  ⦁ Unsupported Video Codec: AV1
     ⦁ Supported Video Codec: H264, HEVC, VP9
     Music (MP3) --

    To create a public URL in Canva, follow these steps:
     a. Open your design: Start by opening the design you want to share.
     b. Click on “Share”: In the menu bar above the editor, click on the “Share” button.


  1.  c. Create the link: Click on “Create public view link”.


  1.  d. Copy the link: Click “Copy” to copy the public view link.


  1.  e. Share the link: Paste the link into OMS.

     ▶ Signage - How to create a playlist 

    Create playlists: Organize your media files into custom playback sequences for easy scheduling

    1. Select the "Playlist" tab under Media, then click "Add New Playlist."

    1. Name the Playlist:
      Enter a unique name for your playlist to help identify its purpose or content.
    2. Click “Add Media” to Build Your Sequence:
      Select and add media files to define the playback order. You can arrange the content to match your desired display flow. 

    1. Click “Save” to save the playlist.

    Assign Media or Playlists to a Template:
    After creating your media content or playlists, select a display template to define the layout of your signage screen. Then, assign media files or playlists to the designated zones within the template to control how and where content appears.

    1. Select a template (12 template options) and name it.

    1. Add the content to the specified zone.

  1. ■ Per Zone

    Zone Description
     Aspect ratio  a. Auto-Fit : Automatically adjusts the content to fit within the
         specified zone while maintaining its original aspect ratio.
     b. Auto-Fill : Automatically scales the content to fill the entire
         specified zone, which may alter the aspect ratio.
     Backgroud Audio  a. Enable /Disable : Sound or music that plays in the background
         while other content is displayed.
     b. Volume : Adjust the sound level of the background audio.

    ■ Per Template

    Template Description
     Play length
     (hh:mm:ss)
     Specify the duration for which the content will play.
     Add backgroud
     audio
     Adding background sound or music to a playlist. 
     Note: If you add your own background audio, it will take priority and
     automatically disable the audio in each zone.
     Change
     Template

     Changing the template will automatically recognize and convert the
     content within each zone.
     If the selected layout has fewer zones than your current layout, some
     content may be lost. You will be prompted to confirm this change to
     ensure you want to proceed."

    Once you have completed all edits, click “Save “Template

     

     ▶ How to Create a Template Schedule 

  1. To ensure proper playback, please note the following:
     a. Allow sufficient time for the resource to download.
     b. Ensure the device or USB has adequate storage space.
     c. If the device is powered off or the video is muted, the system will automatically power
         on the device or unmute the video

  1. Step Descriptions
     1. Select the target display

     a. By Device
     b. By Group
     c. By Location

     2. Schedule Name  Name the schedule
     3. Date/Time

     Set the playback to occur once or to repeat.
     a. Once
     b. Repeat
     Note: Please ensure your time zone is correc.

     4. Select template

     Use the drop-down menu to select which playlist to play.

     5. Stored in

     To save a playlist, select the storage space on the device or USB
     disk.
     The system will automatically check the storage space. If a group
     device is used, the minimum space within the group will be used
     as a limit.

     Note:
     ⦁ If no value is displayed, click the “Refresh” icon to check the device
       storage.

     6. Forced Broadcast Mode

     Tick the “Force Broadcast Mode”, the user can't turn it off from the
     frontend until the playback ends.
     If the device has video mute turned on, it will turn off video mute
     and play the content. 

     7. Synchronize Playback

     The “Synchronize Playback” option is available when you select
     group or location devices, ensuring all displays will play back
     content at the same time.
     a. Synchronised playback will begin once all  
         device resources have been downloaded.
     b. Update sync status every 5 minutes.

     8. Save  Once you have completed all edits, click “Save” to schedule.
     9. Schedule View

     ⦁ You can check the playlist schedule in calendar view or list view. 
     ⦁ Click the shortcut key to easily resume, stop, or delete a schedule.
