Optoma Projector FAQ: Connecting WiSA Speakers

What is WiSA?

  • WiSA stands for Wireless Speaker and Audio Association.
  • It's a technology that allows for high-quality, low-latency wireless audio transmission between compatible devices.

Can I connect WiSA speakers to my Optoma projector?

  • Yes, some Optoma projectors are WiSA certified. This means they are designed to work seamlessly with WiSA-certified speakers.

How do I connect WiSA speakers to my Optoma projector?

  1. Check Compatibility: Ensure your Optoma projector is WiSA certified. You can find this information in the projector's manual or on the Optoma website.
  2. Connect WiSA SoundSend: Connect a WiSA SoundSend device (a small transmitter) to the HDMI/eARC/ARC output on your projector.
  3. Pair Speakers: Pair your WiSA-certified speakers with the WiSA SoundSend device according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves a simple pairing process within the WiSA app.

Benefits of using WiSA with Optoma Projectors:

  • Wireless Convenience: Eliminate the need for messy cables and enjoy the freedom of wireless audio.
  • High-Quality Audio: Experience high-fidelity audio with minimal latency, ensuring a synchronized and immersive audiovisual experience.
  • Easy Setup: Simple and straightforward setup process.
  • Improved Aesthetics: Reduce clutter and enhance the overall look of your home theater setup.

Troubleshooting:

  • Check Connections: Ensure all connections are secure and that the WiSA SoundSend is properly powered.
  • Restart Devices: Try restarting the projector, WiSA SoundSend, and speakers.
  • Update Firmware: Check for and install any available firmware updates for your projector and WiSA devices.
  • Consult Manuals: Refer to the user manuals for your projector and WiSA devices for detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips.

Note:

  • The specific setup process may vary depending on the model of your Optoma projector and WiSA speakers.
  • Always refer to the official documentation from Optoma and the WiSA manufacturer for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
  • The WiSA SoundSend will be the complete controller.

It's common for projector remotes to not directly control the volume of WiSA-connected speakers. Here's why:

    • Separate Audio Systems: WiSA creates a separate audio system. The projector's remote primarily controls the projector's functions (power, source, picture settings).
    • Volume Control Handled by WiSA: Volume control is typically handled through:
      • WiSA App: Most WiSA systems have a dedicated app (on your phone or tablet) for volume control, speaker settings, and system configuration.
      • Speaker Remote: Some WiSA speakers come with their own dedicated remote for volume control.
      • Receiver Remote: If you're using an AV receiver with WiSA capabilities, you'll likely use its remote for volume control.
