How to avoid rare challenges:

 

Best practice # 1 : Using Non-standard accessory

Exercise when using 3rd party hardware/non-standard hardware.

It is best to use Optoma included wall mounted brackets or Optoma LST02 stand (sold separately). See photo example of Optoma standard stand.

Best practice # 2:

 

In general, a successful install starts from the ground up.
When wall mounting, starting on a flat surface is critical.

The wall mount brackets must be affixed to a flat surface, and its important to get this right,
as it serves as a foundation for the display.

Having a framer's level/mason level (approximately 6 foot), can be used as both a straight edge while using it as a level. It is very helpful in checking to ensure surfaces are flush.

Once the bracket is affixed to the wall, but before installing any of the LED cabinets, this is perfect time to ensure everything is square.

Example #1: Mis-alignment/ black pixel line

This horizontal line, visible across most of the display is caused because of installation on uneven surface.

 

Best practice #3:

Ensure correct LED cabinet installation before any tiles are added. (See photo below)


Ensure all 40 of the locking pins are properly seated.
Ensure all the 20 hooks are properly locked.


Save yourself trouble from having to take it all apart (ie. tiles etc.) checking for any irregularities, before adding tiles.

 

Best practice #4:

Add the correct tiles in the correct order.
 

 

Example #2 : Colored horizontal line across edge of tile. This is typical of a flaw due to misalignment; meaning the wrong tile in the wrong location. Refer back to the tile sequence above.

Reboot the display any time a tile is swapped. This ensure that the correct calibration information is applied.
 

Even if tiles seem smooth to the touch; there may be still some noticeable gaps between pixels (example of gaps below). 

Arrows are the same size in photo. Notice how the top rows gap between pixels is smaller than the bottom rows of pixels gap. This can be an indication of misalignment. These gaps can create a noticeable black pixel line across a section of LED tiles on the screen. This black pixel line is due to misalignment of some LED tiles. Below are procedures on how to potentially fix this challenge:

  1. Use white background and lower brightness to 30%. Then notice where (if any) the black pixel line when looking at a dark screen. Take a photo.
  2. Take off the tiles with gap, check the pin and hooks pushed to the right position (these pins and hooks are important; they ensure the frame/LED cabinets behind the tile is aligned. If those are mis-aligned or not secure, then the tiles placed above those sections will become mis-aligned).


    3. Check the tile number (example below of tile # sticker) is on the correct location

     

We have found that following above steps, avoids the most typical installation woes reported to our customers service department.
